GRANDFATHER

By Gary Spizzirri

Verse
Born in Monreale
A little town in Sicily
This little boy now of three
Son of a farmer as he grew
It was there he learned of life’s rules
As he knew

Verse
Now a man of knowledge and wisdom
His time has come to search for his own freedom
When will it come
The Mediterranean Sea would set him free
To the land we know as liberty
There he’d be
There he started a family tree
A proud man with respect and dignity
Someone to be

Chorus
All I’am, all I’ve become
Because I’m here
Grandfather, I thank you

Verse
The lines around his eyes I knew
Road maps of memories as we grew
Old man I love you
His heart was filled with love he shared
His wife and his family he took care
A tall tree now bare

Chorus
All I am, all I’ve become
Because I’m here
Grandfather, I thank you

Chorus
All I am, all I’ve become
Because I’m here
Grandfather, I thank you
